DeCoverly’s
Socialization Program has been designed from the
start to make sure each puppy has the correct
exposure to humans and the outside world. We evaluate
individual personalities and then work to shut
down the more aggressive ones and pull up any
shy puppies.
We curb any chewing or biting behavior, using
standard “no bite” commands and techniques.
One of the most important aspects of the program
is how the puppies are worked for dominance behavior.
The handler puts pups in subservient position,
forcing them to allow a person to be in control.
They are also “stacked” (show style)
on a grooming table for pictures, and they must
submit to this body sculpting and handling.
These basics are also the beginnings of our puppy
evaluations, which guides which puppies we will
keep from a given litter to be evaluated for breeding.
The handler provides insights into conformation
and structure, as well as the early stages of
personality and intelligence.
